Fishing season starts in the month of October and ends in July of each year.

Pursuant to National Institute of Fisheries, at the Sea de Cortez, fishing is sustained by 4 main species; they are the following ones; monterrey sardine (Sardinops sagax), crinuda sardine (Opisthonema libertate), north anchovy (Engraulis mordax), and the anchovy known as bocona (Cetengraulis mysticetus).
